Welcome to the first ever Pleon Homecoming and Alumni Regatta!

We are planning a special day and night on Saturday, August 27th, with many options to participate. We are so excited to invite parents, alumni, family, and friends in our community to Pleon to enjoy a late summer day filled with sailing and connecting with friends, old (we won’t ask how old), and new.

The Homecoming will take place during the evening with food, drinks, music, and activities. We welcome everyone to join us for a memorable night celebrating the rich history and bright future of the club and community. Homecoming kicks off at 6pm and will run through 8:30pm. 

Beginning earlier in that afternoon, we will host the Alumni Regatta, consisting of a 420 Fleet Race and Sonar Match Race (pending sign ups). This event, while labeled Alumni Regatta, is open to all! Parents and communinity members are welcome to join us on the water.

Please read the following details to help you make your choice:

• Racing expertise is not required for any of the fleets! We welcome sailors of all levels, even if you haven't stepped in a boat since you left Pleon. 
• The event will be sailed in Pleon boats. These boats are well loved, and as many would argue, too loved. We see this as true to the fun and lighthearted spirit of this event to use club boats.
• You are encouraged to choose your sailing partner, who does not need to be a Pleon alumni. Please detail your sailing partner’s name during registration for our record.
• All sailors will be required to rig, launch, derig and pull up their own boats. Help will be onsite to assist!
• Your entry donation will go towards continued efforts to maintain and invest in our club boats.
• The sailing entry donation will include the Homecoming event to follow. You do not need to register for the Homecoming event is you are sailing the Alumni Regatta.
• You are welcome to register multiple sailors and multiple Homecoming attendees. 
• If you are joining us for the Homecoming event, all sailors will be back on land in time to enjoy the night festivities.

Final details will be shared in the week(s) ahead of the event, but you can expect a rough schedule to be similar to the below:

2:00 pm: Sailors arrive at Pleon to rig, connect with teammates, start launching boats (420s only, Sonars will be in water)

2:30 pm: Skippers meeting, finish launching boats

3:00 pm: 420 Fleet Racing and Sonar Match Racing

4:30 pm: Return to Pleon to derig and prepare for Homecoming

Please note the follow:

• Both Homecoming and Alumni Regatta are 21+.
• The Homecoming event will go on rain or shine.
• Your choice to participate in the Alumni Regatta is committed regardless of any weather that might disrupt sailing.
• Dress code for the Homecoming is casual.
